Jetour’s Africa Expedition Ends with Solar Borehole Gift to Iwerekun Orile

What started as a thrilling convoy of powerful Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) battling some of Lagos’ toughest coastal trails ended with a heart-warming act of giving back, as Jetour Nigeria brought clean, reliable water to the rural community of Iwerekun Orile, Ibeju-Lekki.

The humanitarian intervention became the defining moment of Jetour Nigeria’s 2026 Africa Expedition on Saturday, September 19, 2026, as a spectacular convoy of SUVs combined motoring adventure, off-road performance and community development at the Roman Catholic Mission Primary School, Iwerekun Orile.

The convoy featured an impressive line-up of Jetour models—the Dashing, X50, X70 Plus, X90 Plus, T2, T2 PHEV, X70 PHEV and the flagship G700. The vehicles roared out of Falomo Square, Ikoyi, after a road safety briefing by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), setting the stage for an expedition that would take them far beyond the familiar streets of Lagos.

With the Nigeria Police Force and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority providing security and traffic support, the convoy swept through Victoria Island and other parts of the metropolis before turning towards the more demanding stretches of the Coastal Highway.

Then the real test began.

Swampy sections, rocky surfaces and uneven trails challenged the SUVs, putting their stability, endurance and off-road capabilities to the test. The rugged terrain provided a dramatic demonstration of the vehicles’ ability to tackle conditions far removed from conventional city driving.

But when the convoy finally arrived at Iwerekun Orile, the expedition took on an entirely different meaning.

At the Roman Catholic Mission Primary School, Jetour commissioned a newly constructed solar-powered borehole to provide clean and reliable water for the school and surrounding community.

For the residents, it was more than the arrival of a convoy of gleaming SUVs. It was the arrival of a much-needed lifeline.

The Jetour team was welcomed with excitement as schoolchildren, traditional leaders, farmers and market women gathered for the occasion, with cultural performances adding colour to the memorable event.

The company also extended its gesture of goodwill beyond the water project, distributing food items to households, while pupils received books and refreshments.

Speaking on the initiative, Jetour Nigeria representative, Kemi Adeola, said the company believes its responsibility extends beyond producing and marketing vehicles.

“This is where adventure meets purpose. Our mission doesn’t stop at building capable vehicles; it lives in our pledge to drive tangible progress and touch the hearts of the communities we reach,” Adeola said.

The traditional leader of Iwerekun Orile, High Chief Michael Oluwa, described the water project as an unprecedented development in the history of the community and pledged that residents would protect and maintain the facility.

For the school’s head teacher, Mrs Ariyike Bakre, the project could make a lasting difference to both pupils and residents.

“This is my first time seeing a solar-powered borehole,” Bakre said, describing the facility as a lifetime gift to the school and community.

She expressed appreciation to Jetour for bringing the project to Iwerekun Orile and making the community part of the expedition.

After conquering the demanding trails and completing the community intervention, the expedition moved to a beach lounge, where drivers, organisers and participants relaxed over food, music and entertainment.

But the biggest takeaway from Jetour Nigeria’s 2026 Africa Expedition was not simply the spectacle of a convoy of SUVs conquering rugged terrain.

It was the transformation of an automotive adventure into an opportunity to make a tangible difference.

For Iwerekun Orile, Jetour’s expedition left behind far more than tyre tracks, photographs and memories of a spectacular convoy. It left behind something the community urgently needed—a lasting source of clean, reliable water.
