The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) is targeting increased investment in local vehicle manufacturing, component production and automotive technology as the 26th Abuja International Motor Fair approaches.

NADDC Director-General, Otunba Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, stated this at a joint press briefing with the fair’s organiser, BKG Exhibitions Limited, at NICON Luxury Hotel, Garki, Abuja, on October 14.

Scheduled for November 10–13, 2026, at Eagle Square, Abuja, the fair will hold under the theme, “Driving Nigeria’s Automotive Future.”

Osanipin said the automotive industry remained vital to Nigeria’s industrialisation, economic diversification and job creation, stressing that the fair should go beyond vehicle displays to promote local production, attract investment and facilitate technology transfer.

He reaffirmed NADDC’s commitment to local content development, component manufacturing, research and innovation, electric mobility, battery technology, alternative fuels and technical skills development. He also emphasised the importance of safety standards and quality assurance.

The Director-General called for stronger collaboration among government, private investors, financial institutions and research institutions to translate the sector’s potential into measurable industrial growth.

“Together, let us transform conversations into commitments, commitments into partnerships, and partnerships into measurable industrial progress,” he said.

BKG Exhibitions Limited Managing Director, Chief William Ifeanyichukwu Agwu, described the fair as a strategic platform for attracting investment and strengthening Nigeria’s position in Africa’s automotive and mobility market.

“Nigeria has given your brand a market. This is the moment for your brand to show Nigeria its commitment,” Agwu said, urging manufacturers, assemblers, distributors, component producers, financial institutions, technology companies and state governments to participate.

The four-day event will feature vehicle displays, product unveilings, business-to-business engagements, test drives, automotive finance discussions and investment partnerships.

It will also host the Africa EV and Clean Transport Expo, showcasing electric vehicles, compressed natural gas (CNG), charging infrastructure and other sustainable mobility solutions, alongside the Africa Automotive and Mobility Excellence Awards.

The organisers have invited automotive industry players, investors, government representatives, the media and the public to participate.
