Hyundai Raises Nigeria’s SUV Stakes with Mufasa, Grand Creta Launch

Bold looks, five- and seven-seat options, and modern technology headline Hyundai’s latest push for Nigerian motorists.

Hyundai Motors Nigeria has stepped up its challenge in Nigeria’s SUV market, unveiling the all-new Mufasa and Grand Creta in a double launch aimed at winning over professionals, executives and families.

The two models bring distinct attractions to the contest: the Mufasa offers muscular styling and five-seat practicality, while the Grand Creta targets motorists demanding three rows of seats and greater passenger flexibility.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Gaurav Vashisht, General Manager, Sales and Marketing, Hyundai Motors Nigeria, said the introductions reflected growing customer demand for comfort, safety, technology and versatility.

“With the introduction of the Hyundai Mufasa and Grand Creta, we are offering two distinctive vehicles designed to meet different lifestyle requirements while maintaining Hyundai’s global standards of quality and innovation,” he said.

Mufasa: A Bold New Contender

The Mufasa arrives with an unmistakable ambition: to command attention.

A bold front grille, distinctive LED lighting and muscular proportions give the SUV a confident stance, putting exterior appeal at the forefront of its pitch to Nigerian buyers.

Beneath that styling sits a 2.0-litre Smartstream MPi petrol engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Depending on market specification, output is approximately 150–160 PS, with 193 Nm of torque.

Its front-wheel-drive layout and 54-litre fuel tank complete a package positioned for everyday commuting and longer journeys.

Measuring approximately 4,475 mm long and 1,850 mm wide, with a 2,680 mm wheelbase, the Mufasa accommodates five occupants in a cabin designed around comfort and everyday usefulness.

Inside, a modern dashboard, digital displays, storage compartments and comfortable seating extend its appeal beyond its exterior.

Depending on the variant, equipment includes touchscreen infotainment, smartphone connectivity, automatic climate control, wireless charging and selectable driving modes.

Available safety equipment includes airbags, Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control and parking assistance, with the precise package dependent on specification.

For professionals and families seeking an SUV with visual presence and practical dimensions, the Mufasa gives Hyundai a fresh contender.

Grand Creta: More Seats, Bigger Ambitions

Where the Mufasa makes its opening statement through design, the Grand Creta answers with space.

Its seven-seat, three-row configuration targets families whose transport needs extend beyond the conventional five-seater. Flexible seating allows owners to adjust the cabin for passengers, luggage or a combination of both.

A 2,760 mm wheelbase supports that emphasis on interior accommodation, while its commanding exterior maintains the SUV appeal many buyers seek.

The available 2.0-litre Smartstream petrol engine produces approximately 159 PS and 191 Nm of torque. Automatic versions pair the engine with a six-speed transmission.

Technology and convenience features, depending on specification, include an 8-inch touchscreen with smartphone connectivity, rear air-conditioning vents, keyless entry and push-button start. Higher variants offer a digital instrument cluster.

Selected trims add leather-appointed seating, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, wireless charging and a panoramic sunroof.

The listed safety package includes six airbags, ABS, Electronic Stability Control, Hill-start Assist Control, rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera and ISOFIX child-seat mounting points. Buyers should confirm the equipment fitted to their chosen variant.

Together, these features position the Grand Creta as Hyundai’s answer to customers seeking additional seats, adaptable luggage space and modern conveniences in one family vehicle.

The Battle Goes Beyond the Showroom

For Hyundai Motors Nigeria, the double unveiling is also an opportunity to strengthen customer confidence in the ownership experience.

“At Hyundai Motors Nigeria, our objective is not simply to introduce new vehicles but to deliver a complete ownership experience,” Vashisht said.

He described the Mufasa as an option for customers drawn to bold design, modern technology and dynamic performance, while the Grand Creta addresses the space and versatility requirements of larger families.

“Both models reflect our commitment to offering customers more choices, supported by our authorised dealership network, professional after-sales services and genuine spare parts,” he added.

The newcomers expand a Hyundai SUV portfolio that already includes the Creta, Tucson, Santa Fe and Palisade.

With the Mufasa and Grand Creta now joining that line-up, Hyundai has widened its pitch to Nigerian motorists. The showroom attraction is clear; the next contest is for buyers’ confidence—and their money
