Darey Art Alade’s Dream Machine

Rolls Royce logoAt the recent official opening of Nissan Multi-million naira edifice on the Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria, Darey Art Alade, in a chat with Motoring World Editor-in-chief, FEMI OWOEYE, said:” a car, to me, has become a necessary staple in our lives today just as is your telephone and electricity”.

[dropcap]D[/dropcap]are Art Alade, popularly known as Darey is a Nigerian multi-platinum selling and award-winning musician. He is a singer and a songwriter. But one aspect of his life, which he hardly shows off, is motoring.

Art Alade-Only one or two questions you said…..

Even when he met Motoring World Editor-in-chief, Femi Owoeye on Victoria Island, Lagos, precisely at the opening of Nissan multi-million edifice, he was reluctant to talk about his motoring experience.

He would rather chat about other things. Of course it was not unexpected. Reason: He was at the occasion as a Nissan ambassador in which case he was expected to say everything positive about Nissan, even say it’s a car he’ll love to be with all alone in another planet.  No. He was not going to talk at all, except about questions relating to Nissan. Notwithstanding, discussion ensued between him and Motoring World boss, who insisted Darey Art Alade must talk to him about cars. At a point, he said his dream car was Nissan Saloon or something.

Femi Owoeye replied thus: “No one will believe you, Darey, and I don’t either”. They both burst to laughter and, at last, he talked cars.

The chat was brief,  but, as you’d find in the pictures, was full of ‘ lols’(laughing out loud).

Enjoy it ………

Got yah, happy ending for both at the end of the chatMW: Hi Darey

Art Alade: Good evening

MW: May I ask you some few questions about cars?

Art Alade: Oh.. ahaem, can we do that some other time?

MW: Not really, it’s just one or two questions, which I’m sure you can answer. It’s a question I always ask people, what does this machine called a car mean to you? But before you answer that, tell me, and would you describe yourself as a lover of automobiles?

Art Alade: To that, I say yes.

MW: Now, what does a car mean to you?

Art Alade: Hesitantly and smiling, he answered, “What a car mean to me?”

MW: Yes, just that

Art Alade: Ok, well it’s a lot more than what it’s suppose to be, which is getting you from point A to point B. It has become getting you from point A to point B in style, in comfort, in luxury. Its possibilities over the years have been endless. A car has become a necessary staple in our lives today just as is your telephone and electricity.

MW: Have you a dream car?

Art Alade: You said one question (LOL)

MW: (Lol)

MW: Now, let’s try once more. Have you a dream car?

The Rolls Royce: Art Alade's ultimate car
The Rolls Royce: Art Alade’s ultimate car

Art Alade: Yes. It’s still in my dream (lol)

MW: Would like to reveal it?

Art Alade: I’ll leave that to my…

MW: (cut in)Which brand and model of car do you drive at the moment?

Art Alade: I like BMW;  I like the drive of BMW. I also love Range Rovers

MW: But I have a strong feeling that you haven’t mentioned real machine of your dream

Art Alade: Ok ..ok.. Rolls Royce!!

MW: There you are!!!
