Renault Raises Stakes as Coscharis Unveils Koleos, Kardian at Abuja Motor Fair

Coscharis Motors has shaken up Nigeria’s SUV market with the dramatic unveiling of the all-new Renault Koleos and Renault Kardian at the 25th Abuja International Motor Fair.

The launch signals Renault’s return to aggressive competition in a market long dominated by Asian and American brands.

The models were unveiled at Eagle Square by the Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Otunba Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, who described the arrival of the SUVs as “a timely boost” for Nigerian car buyers seeking stronger, more efficient options.

Industry watchers say Renault’s dual launch was designed to hit two fast-growing segments at once. The Koleos targets premium SUV users, especially corporate buyers and senior executives; while the Kardian is positioned to win over the expanding compact-SUV crowd, including young professionals and ride-hailing fleets.

Coscharis Motors’ General Manager for Marketing and Corporate Communications, Mr. Abiona Babarinde, said the company is “placing Renault back where it belongs—at the heart of Nigeria’s mobility upgrade.”

He highlighted the models’ advanced safety tech, modern styling, and durability as key differentiators.

Babarinde added that Coscharis is backing the launch with strong buyer incentives, including a three-year warranty, certified Renault technicians, genuine parts availability, and finance options through its sister company, Coscharis Mobility.

The NADDC DG’s test-drive of both vehicles provided one of the event’s standout moments. After a short performance tour within the fairgrounds, he praised their smooth handling, power delivery, and responsiveness. He also urged Coscharis Motors to begin local assembly of the new models at its Lagos plant to help reduce costs and support the federal government’s automotive policy.

According to him, local assembly of the Koleos and Kardian would not only make the vehicles more affordable but also deepen local content and strengthen Nigeria’s bid to revive its vehicle manufacturing ecosystem.

Coscharis Motors’ Sales Manager, Ms. Leticia Onuzulike, later walked guests through the vehicles’ features. She described the Koleos as “a premium SUV built for comfort and control,” while calling the Kardian “a youthful, agile, fuel-efficient SUV designed for modern mobility needs.”

With a growing lineup and strategic partnerships, Coscharis Motors is positioning Renault as a real challenger in Nigeria’s increasingly competitive SUV space. The company says visitors can experience the new models firsthand at its pavilion throughout the motor fair.

The launch underscores Coscharis’ wider strategy: disrupt the market, expand consumer choice, and push for a stronger local automotive industry—one Renault-branded SUV at a time.
