Nigeria Auto Industry Summit Attracts Auto Giants, Regulators for EV, CNG Push

Nigeria’s transition to electric vehicles (EVs) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered transportation has received a major boost as leading automobile manufacturers, transport regulators and government agencies confirmed participation in the 2026 Nigeria Auto Industry Summit (NAISU).

Among the industry heavyweights backing the summit are Weststar Associates, Toyota (Nigeria), Jetour Nigeria, Carloha Nigeria, Simba Group, Cedric Masters Group, Coscharis Motors and Lanre Shittu Motors, alongside policymakers, investors, financiers, fleet operators and technology providers.

Organised by the Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA) in collaboration with the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), the summit will hold on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Radisson Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, with the theme: “Nigeria’s Clean Mobility Future: The EV and CNG Journey Under the Bola Tinubu Administration.”

Adding weight to the event, FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed will deliver a keynote address on road safety, regulation and the deployment of EVs and CNG vehicles.

Also confirmed are NADDC Director-General Joseph Osanipin and Chairman/CEO of the Presidential Initiative on CNG and Electric Vehicles (Pi-CNG & EV), Ismaeel Ahmed, who will outline the Federal Government’s clean mobility agenda and strategies for accelerating EV and CNG adoption nationwide.

Chairman of the Summit Planning Committee, Rasheed Bisiriyu, described this year’s gathering as coming at a defining moment for Nigeria’s transport sector.

According to him, stakeholders will examine the Tinubu administration’s progress in clean mobility, while addressing critical challenges including charging infrastructure, CNG refuelling stations, financing, local vehicle assembly, consumer awareness and the policy framework needed to fast-track adoption.

NAJA Chairman, Theodore Opara, said the summit has grown into one of Nigeria’s leading automotive policy platforms, stressing that collaboration among regulators, manufacturers, energy providers, transport operators and consumers is essential to achieving affordable and sustainable mobility.

Organisers expect the summit to produce practical recommendations that will deepen investment in alternative-fuel vehicles, strengthen local automotive manufacturing and position Nigeria as a leading player in Africa’s rapidly evolving clean mobility ecosystem.

With virtually every major stakeholder now on board, the 2026 Nigeria Auto Industry Summit is set to become one of the country’s most influential gatherings on the future of mobility.
