Motorists using the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway have been warned to prepare for possible delays as repair work on the Kara-Berger Bridge is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
According to a traffic advisory issued by the Lagos Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the intervention involves the replacement of expansion joints on the Kara-Berger Bridge and is expected to run until September 22, 2026.
The FRSC Special Marshals, RS2.1 Lagos, urged motorists to plan their journeys ahead of time and make allowances for additional travel time during the period of the construction.
Motorists approaching the work zone have also been advised to reduce their speed, exercise caution and comply strictly with temporary traffic signs, road markings and instructions from traffic management personnel.
The advisory further warned drivers against unnecessary stopping or picking up passengers within the restricted area, driving against traffic or using unauthorised diversions.
The FRSC said motorists should cooperate with personnel from TRACE, FRSC, LASTMA, the Police and other agencies deployed to manage traffic around the construction zone.
The Kara-Berger corridor is one of the busiest sections of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, carrying heavy traffic between Lagos and the Ogun State axis. The repair work is therefore expected to require heightened caution and patience from road users.
The FRSC urged motorists to “Drive Safe, Stay Alert” and support traffic management efforts throughout the repair period.
