In a bold move to accelerate Nigeria’s industrial transformation and create a new generation of automotive professionals, the Federal Government has commissioned the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) Automotive Training Centre (ATC) in Gusau, Zamfara State, while graduating 100 youths trained in specialised mechatronics.

The landmark initiative, unveiled on June 11, 2026, underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to skills development, job creation and local industrial growth under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Established by NADDC in partnership with PADSON Industry Limited and the Zamfara State Government, the state-of-the-art facility is expected to become a major hub for automotive innovation, technology transfer and workforce development across the North-West region.

Commissioning the centre, the Honourable Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Owan Enoh, described the project as a strategic investment in Nigeria’s industrial future, stressing that it aligns with the Nigeria First Policy and the drive for increased local content.

According to him, the centre will unlock fresh opportunities for entrepreneurship, innovation and technical advancement within the nation’s rapidly evolving automotive sector.

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State hailed the project as a game changer for youth empowerment and economic growth, noting that it would create sustainable livelihoods while strengthening the state’s development agenda.

Chairman of the NADDC Governing Board, Chief Emma Eneukwu, said the facility would open new doors for youths across the North-West, promoting economic inclusion and long-term employment.

Welcoming guests to the historic event, NADDC Director-General, Otunba Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, reaffirmed the Council’s resolve to build a highly skilled workforce capable of driving Nigeria’s automotive transformation.

He revealed that the centre is equipped with modern training facilities tailored to provide hands-on, industry-driven learning for technicians, artisans, students and aspiring automotive entrepreneurs.

The event reached its climax with the graduation of 100 youths who completed specialised training in the maintenance and repair of PMS and CNG-powered tricycles and motorcycles.

Presentation of certificates to the graduates marked yet another milestone in NADDC’s sustained efforts to promote technical education, alternative energy adoption and sustainable economic opportunities for Nigerian youths.

Industry observers say the commissioning of the Gusau centre signals a major leap in Nigeria’s quest to build a globally competitive automotive industry powered by indigenous talent and innovation.
