The 2025 Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA) International Auto Awards is set to heat up on Tuesday, December 16, at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, with NADDC DG Chief Joseph Oluwemimo Osanipin and FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed confirming their attendance.
Their presence highlights the awards’ role as Nigeria’s premier platform for celebrating automotive excellence, innovation, and leadership. Osanipin, a key advocate for local vehicle assembly and electric mobility, will share insights on the nation’s automotive roadmap, while Mohammed will reinforce the FRSC’s commitment to road safety.
NAJA Chairman Theodore Opara said the awards align with the Federal Government’s industrialisation agenda. “We are thrilled to partner with NADDC, a driving force in policy and innovation,” he said.
The 2025 edition promises high stakes as Chinese brands Changan, Jetour, and Chery battle for the coveted Nigeria Car-of-the-Year crown with their CS55, Dashing, and Tiggo 8 models. “For the first time, Chinese manufacturers are not just competing, they’re leading,” Opara noted.
Other category nominees, including vehicle assembly, electrification, aftersales, heavy-duty trucks, and luxury mobility, will be revealed soon. According to Awards Committee Chair Frank Kintum, this year’s event will “raise the bar” and reflect the sector’s fast-paced transformation, from green mobility to expanded local assembly.
With top government officials, industry leaders, and global automakers confirmed, the NAJA Auto Awards 2025 is shaping up as one of the most consequential editions yet.
