In a strategic move aimed at transforming Nigeria’s automotive aftermarket and combating the growing menace of counterfeit engine oils, global lubricant giant Motul has partnered with Winpart by CFAO Mobility Nigeria and leading fuel retailer Energy Switch to expand access to premium automotive lubricants across the country.

The alliance has commenced with the successful branding of eight Energy Switch fuel stations in Ibadan, Oyo State, creating a network of trusted retail outlets where motorists can purchase authentic Motul lubricants alongside their regular fuel purchases.

The initiative represents a significant step in the battle against counterfeit lubricants, which continue to pose a major threat to vehicle owners, fleet operators and the broader automotive industry in Nigeria.

By transforming selected fuel stations into integrated automotive care centres, the three companies aim to provide motorists with convenient access to genuine, high-performance engine oils while improving consumer confidence and vehicle maintenance standards.

Speaking during the official launch held at the CFAO Mobility headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos, General Manager of Winpart by CFAO, Eric Fantodji, described the partnership as a major milestone in bringing world-class automotive solutions closer to Nigerian consumers.

“This partnership reflects our commitment to making high-quality automotive products more accessible to Nigerian motorists. By leveraging Energy Switch’s retail network, we are creating convenient touchpoints where customers can confidently access genuine Motul lubricants and benefit from the performance, protection and reliability they deliver,” he said.

Industry stakeholders believe the collaboration could significantly reshape lubricant distribution in Nigeria by establishing verified channels for premium products and reducing motorists’ exposure to counterfeit engine oils.

The partners noted that the initiative is designed not only to improve access to authentic lubricants but also to strengthen consumer trust by providing recognised and reliable points of purchase.

Managing Director of Energy Switch Allied Oil Services Limited, Olugbenga Adediwin, said the collaboration aligns with the company’s vision of providing motorists with a more comprehensive automotive service experience.

“Our partnership with Motul and CFAO Mobility allows us to enhance customer value by providing access to globally trusted lubricants within our stations. This is an important step in improving the overall experience for motorists,” he said.

Under the arrangement, motorists are expected to benefit from easier access to genuine Motul products, greater convenience through integrated fuel and lubricant services, and increased confidence in the authenticity of the products they purchase.

The branding of the eight Ibadan stations represents the first phase of the collaboration, with the partners already exploring opportunities to expand the model to other cities and markets across Nigeria.

As Nigeria’s automotive sector continues to evolve, the Motul-Winpart by CFAO-Energy Switch alliance is positioning itself at the forefront of efforts to improve vehicle maintenance standards, enhance consumer protection and redefine how premium automotive products reach Nigerian motorists.
