Ekiti Establishes Transport Agency, Plans Affordable Mass Transit

Ekiti State governor, His Excellency Biodun Oyebanji has appointed Barrister Tajudeen Akingbolu as Director General a newly established Ekiti State Transport Agency (EKSTA).

According to a credible government source, with the new Agency, Oyebanji plans to launch intra and inter-state, CNG/EV – powered mass transit buses aimed at providing affordable transportation services for the citizens of the state.

The appointment of Akingbolu, a former member of the State House of Assembly, as the Director General of the newly floated agency took effect from January 2, 2025.

In a related development, Oyebanj also approved the appointment of a member of his cabinet, Mr. Oyeniyi Adebayo as Chief of Staff to the Governor.

Adebayo, who was the State Commissioner for Budget, Economic Planning and Performance Management, assumed the role of Chief of Staff with effect from January 2, 2025.

Similarly, the Governor appointed Hon Femi Ajayi as the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning and also created the Office of Special Services to be headed by Prince Wole Ajakaiye, Director General/Special Adviser SDGs,  as Special Adviser.
