FRSC Warns Motorists against Phone Calls on Wheels

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has warned motorists to avoid answering and making phone calls while driving. Or face the wrath of the law.

The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra State command, Adeoye Irelewuyi, who gave the warning through  the state’s Corps Ag Public Education Officer, Commander Margret Onabe, said making use of phones on the steering wheel is not only dangerous but an act of violation of traffic laws.

He noted that road accidents could be linked to usage of mobile phones on the steering, urging motorists to desist from such act.

The Corps Commander advised motorists to always stop their cars and pack by the side to make or answer calls adding that any gadget capable of distracting drivers should not be used while driving.

He further disclosed that there was reduction on the rate of motor accidents during the last Yuletide when compared to previous years, attributing it to the committed efforts of command in ensuring that motorists obey traffic rules.

Irelewuyi also disclosed that his command has been carrying out public enlightenment programmes on radio, visiting parks regularly to ensure operators comply with the rules and regulations.
