Contestants of Miss Soweto 2025 had the opportunity to attend a road safety workshop as well as a hijack extraction demonstration.
Hosted by MasterDrive and WesBank, the ladies received greater awareness and know what to do should the worst happen.
The CEO of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, described the event as a proud moment for the team to share advice on carjackings that have the potential to save lives.
“MasterDrivespent a great deal of time developing a programme that helps drivers increase their awareness and equips them with the knowledge of what to do should someone be hijacked.
“As this knowledge can have a lasting impact on someone’slives, we undertake to never gatekeep the information. Instead, MasterDrivetakes every opportunity to share these skills. Furthermore, we encourage every person that partakes in a hijack extraction demonstration to share the skills learnt with others.”
Tshegofatso Mathe, founder and CEO of the event, says it was an enlightening and empowering experience. “The knowledge shared is certainly something each of us are going to carry with us forever. We have already started sharing the information with our immediate family and friends and we will continue to do so and continue spreading the word.
“After the finale of Mrs Soweto later this week, irrespective of the results of each finalist, they will walk away enriched with the knowledge of how to be as safe as possible on the road. Our sincere gratitude goes out to MasterDriveand WesBank for the calibre of the event that we had the opportunity to attend,” says Mathe.
It was an honour to collaborate with MasterDriveand Dr Tshegofatso Mathe on this transformative initiative. “To be equipped with skills like hijack management and defensive driving techniques is not just about safety, but about being empowered to navigate challenges with confidence and resilience.
