FRSC Gets new Corps Marshal, as Biu Retires 7months After Due Date

President Bola Tinubu has appointed ACM Shehu Mohammed as the Corp Marshal and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), as Dauda Biu stepped out seven months after he was due for retirement.

As contained in a letter of appointment signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume dated May 20th, 2024, the appointment and takes effect from May 20th, 2024.

Although the outgoing Corps Marshal should have bowed out of the service since October 11th, when he clocked 35 years in service, Biu was left to serve for an extra 7 months before replacement.

A memo by the corps secretary, Assistant Corps Marshal Susan A. Ajonge, requested Biu, who took over from Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi 2022,  to proceed on a retirement leave on July 11 2023 till October 11, 2023, when his retirement from the service should take effect.

Dated February 22, 2023 and titled: “Pre-notice of retirement from service of FRSC”, the memo advised Biu to liaise with the Corps Pension Office, Administration and Human Resources Department RSHQ immediately for appropriate documentation.
