First Made-in-Nigeria Changan Alsvin Sedan Arrives Showrooms

Nigeria’s first locally manufactured Sedan from the house of Changan, ALSVIN, has arrived the nation’s automobile showrooms, courtesy of Stallion Motors, Nigeria’s exclusive franchisee for the Changan brand.

Stallion Group’s GM Marketing, Ms Arpita Roy Luthra, who made this known in a recent media chat, described ASLVIN as a dynamic and family friendly car.

ALSVIN’s roomy and exquisite interior

According to Ms Luthra, unlike imported cars made for non-tropical regions of the world, locally assembled Alsvin sedan, which is being assembled at VON, has been adapted for safe and comfortable ride on Nigerian roads.

“Supported by Stallion Motors’ cast iron after-sale service across the nation, Alsvin owners are assured of peace of mind.”

Also commenting, Changan’s brand head, Vijay Shengar, said: “Introducing locally assembled ALSVIN into the nation’s market is timely, as the world, including Nigeria, is experiencing economic meltdown.”

“A distillation of the Changan’s convention,” he noted, “ASLVIN does not only combine quality with value for money, it is characterized by efficiency, safety, exquisite style and affordability.

“Owners of the made-in-Nigeria Changan Sedan have no cause to worry, because its parts, which can only be found at authorized Changan dealers, are extensively tested to guarantee the car’s durability, safety and performance.”

Styling

ALSVIN sedan comes in three trims: LEVEL 1, LEVEL 2 and DISTINGUISH. But in all, buyers are offered options of five colours – Red, Coffee Golden, Blue, Silver and Black.

A car with a streamline body, Alsvin obviously benefited from a simple but dynamic creation of modern automotive stylists.

Separated from the mother earth by 185/55R15 Alloy wheels, Nigeria’s first locally manufactured Changan sedan is 4390 mm long, 1725mm wide and 1490mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2515mm.

All versions of Alsvin come with chrome plate front grill surface and halogen headlamps. But the DISTINGUISH trim (Full version) comes with sunroof.

Power

ALSVIN is powered by a fuel efficient, 1.5-litre Blue Core, 105 hp (horse power) engine with performance strength of 145 Nm (Newton metre) of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox.

Safety

The name Changan was derived from two Chinese words, meaning Lasting Safety (Chang + an =Lasting + Safety).

Expectedly, therefore, the made-in-Nigeria sedan is characterized by the vital Changan’s safety DNA, featuring Driver and front passenger Airbags, child safety lock, seat belt sound and visual reminders.

It is equipped with an Electric power steering (EPS), which, unlike hydraulic power steering, receives information from the steering angle censor, thereby eliminating the need for a power steering pump, hoses, hydraulic fluids, and a drive belt and pulley on the engine. As a result, EPS is energy efficient and environmentally compatible.

The Changan Sedan made for Nigeria also comes with Electric Stability Programme (ESP), a computerized safety technology designed to improve the vehicle’s stability by detecting and reducing loss of traction. Other safety features coming with Changan Alsvin include Tyre pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and Hill Start Hold control (HSHC).

Aside the foregoing features, buyers of Level 2 and DISTINGUISH versions enjoy additional safety features namely: Reverse view camera, rear packing sensor, Cruise Control, Defrost/Heat and Right rear Mirror Camera.

Equipment

The made-in Nigeria sedan features  7-inch Central console display screen, Bluetooth, USB, 4 loudspeakers, Remote Control Luggage Opening, Exterior Mirror Electric control as well as Up and Down Steering Control for better driving comfort.

Price: Despite the forgoing load of essential features and quality offerings, the locally assembled Alsvin Sedan sells for as low as N6.7 million.

“We are able to do a rate of N6.7m, which is the best in the category and so lucrative that buyers now need not buy old cars, even if their car buying budget is low,” Ms Luthra assured.
