Chery Launches Fuel-Efficient, Tiggo 8 Pro SUV in Nigeria

One of the world’s most fuel efficient Sports Utility Vehicles, Chery Tiggo 8 Pro has been launched into the Nigerian market, courtesy of Carloha Nigeria, the nation’s exclusive representative of the brand.

Unveiled Wednesday at the prestigious Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos, venue of the 2024 Lagos Motor Fair, the Chery SUV is powered by 2.0T GDI (Gasoline direct injection) engines, which, in the automotive world, is famous for lower fuel consumption.

Aside fuel efficiency, other benefits offered by GDI engines over traditional fuel injection systems include increased power, low emissions, better cold start performance, and improved durability.

A significant milestone for the nation’s auto industry, Tiggo 8 Pro SUV grand launch drew a pack of high-calibre personalities from various sectors of the economy, along with esteemed traditional rulers, marking a momentous occasion for the brand.

Federal Palace Hotel provided a fitting atmosphere for the unveiling of the SUV, showcasing its sophisticated styling and advanced features.

Showing off a blend of luxury, performance and cutting-edge technology, Tiggo 8 Pro SUV impressed visitors with its interior comfort and advanced safety features.

The exclusive unveil was witnessed by top executives, industry leaders, government officials, and notable figures from the business community.

The dignitaries included Dr.Okey Nwuke, member Board of Directors at Access Bank, Dr.Edward Benson, Mr. Ruso Ascanio, Managing Director of Grimaldi and The Esa Omu – Adekunle Oyinloye, the traditional ruler of the day.

Others were Dr. Adeyemi Fawole, Managing Director, Avis Nigeria Limited, Mr. Wale Fasere, MD/CEO, Fastride, Mr. Mike Ochonma, Chairman of Nigeria Automotive Journalist Association (NAJA), Motoring Editors across major newspapers, magazines and blogs.

The occasion was also graced by executive members of MTN Employee Multi-purpose Cooperative Society (MEMCOS), Executive members of Exxonmobil Cooperative Society (EMCOOP), as well as the brand’s partners, stakeholders, friends, and families.

Reacting in a post-event media statement, Carloha linked the high profile dignitaries’ presence to the importance of the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro’s entry into the Nigerian market and the potential impact on the automotive landscape.

Aside the business elites, the presence of the traditional ruler,Esa Omu – Adekunle Oyinloye added a touch of cultural significance and prestige, deep respect, and recognition of Chery’s commitment to integrating with the local culture and community.

The event featured a series of engaging activities, including a detailed presentation on the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro’s innovative features, a live demonstration of its capabilities, and opportunities for attendees to experience the vehicle first-hand.

The launch was concluded with a networking reception, allowing guests to discuss the implications of the new introduction and explore potential collaborations.

In a keynote address at the occasion, the Managing Director of Carloha Nigeria, Mr. Sola Adigun, described the launch as a rebirth of Chery in Nigeria.

“We are thrilled to introduce the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro to the Nigerian market,” he enthused, adding, “We are not just selling cars, but we are selling automobile solutions.”

According to Adigun, Carloha decided to go for Chery, because it is not only the number one domestic vehicle in China, it also maintains an acceptable presence in about 80 countries of the world.

The highlight of the event was the unveiling of Tiggo 8 pro by Dr. Okey Nwuke, The Esa Omu, in the company of other dignitaries, a PowerPoint presentation of Tiggo 8 pro by Mr. Yinka Oladipo, the National Sales Manager of Chery in Nigeria, testimony from Grace Olugbade, the longest Chery user, who has driven Chery vehicle for over 10 years in Nigeria, a thrilling session with James, a Nigerian born-Chinese Comedian, also known as ‘Qian Duoduo’n

The event also featured an energetic dance session by Star kids, which added a youthful zest to the epic launch event.
