Nigeria’s Federal Capital, Abuja is today hosting a grand unveil of the nation’s first Electric vehicle, Hyundai Kona.
The event, which holds at the Sheraton Hotel, Maitama Abuja, will be attended by top federal government functionaries, including the Minister of industries, Trade and Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo and Director General of National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Jelani Aliyu
Stallion Motors, Nigeria’s franchise dealer and local assembler of Hyundai brand is expected to use the occasion to make case for Electric vehicle as an essential tool for the global battle against climate change as well as the cleanest and most economical car for Nigerians.
The federal government is expected to use the occasion to update Nigerians about President Buhari administration’s plan towards supporting and exploring the automotive industry for job creation and economic development.
It would be recalled that the Kona was first launched in Lagos late last year by the Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who promised to set up EV charging stations across the city.
