Sokoto FRSC Arrests 7,584 Traffic Offenders in Five Months

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), RS10, Sokoto Zone, has arrested 7,584 traffic offenders from January to date.

FRSC-300x166@2xMr Olumide Olagunju, Assistant Corps Marshal and the Zonal Commanding officer, RS10 Sokoto, made the disclosure in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)  in Sokoto.

Olagunju said the offenders were arrested in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States.

He said of the 7,584, 149 offenders were prosecuted and 131 were successfully convicted, while eight of them were discharged.

Olagunju said that 132 road traffic crashes were recorded in the states within the period under review.

“Sixty-nine persons were killed, while 419 persons sustained various degrees of injury in road accidents that occurred from January to date,’’ Olagunju, recalled, adding that seat-belt violation was the major offence recorded during the period.
