With the festive season fast approaching and traffic volumes set to surge, ON-THE-HIGHWAY AFRICA is stepping up with an urgent, high-level Road Safety Town Hall and Awareness Campaign.
The initiative, themed “Driving into the New Year: Safer Roads, Fuller Communities,” reinforces UN SDGs 3 and 11, spotlighting the global push to reduce road traffic deaths and strengthen safer, more resilient communities.
The Town Hall will convene top stakeholders from road transport, traffic management, auto industry, and the media to chart a frontline strategy for curbing crashes during the high-risk Yuletide rush.
Founder and Publisher of ON-THE-HIGHWAY AFRICA, Julie Chi-Nwaoha, stresses that road safety is a shared responsibility and the campaign’s mission is to jolt every road user into adopting safer habits behind the wheel.
Heavyweight guests expected include ACM Ann Oladayo FSI, Zonal Commanding Officer (Lagos & Ogun), CC Kehinde Hamzat, Lagos Sector Commander, and CC Akinwumi Oladapo Fasakin, Ogun Sector Commander. They will join expert panelists from the media, automotive and transportation sectors in a no-nonsense conversation on safety, security and the urgent need to tame the roads as the year winds down.
Beyond talk, the organisers will roll out a post-event outreach, visiting hospitals to provide cash support to victims of road traffic crashes , a sober reminder of the human cost behind the statistics.
As the campaign kicks off, Nigerians are urged to take personal responsibility: slow down, stay alert, and look out for others. Safer roads are possible, but only if everyone plays their part.
