Mercedes Shines Bright as Euro NCAP Crowns 2025’s Safest Cars…See full list

Euro NCAP has released its final batch of safety ratings for 2025, and Mercedes-Benz once again leads the field. The all-new CLA, available with electric and petrol powertrains, delivered a standout five-star performance, reinforcing the brand’s reputation for uncompromising safety engineering.

The CLA posted 94% for Adult Occupant Protection and 89% for Child Occupant Protection, supported by smart features that detect child restraints and automatically deactivate the appropriate airbags. Its protection for pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists was equally strong, thanks to a rigid structure and high-performing autonomous emergency braking.

Beyond Mercedes, this final 2025 round produced a strong mix of five-star achievers. The MAZDA CX-5 impressed Euro NCAP with a 93% score for Vulnerable Road User protection. Deepal’s electric S05 SUV, Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen T-Roc also recorded excellent Adult Occupant Protection results, led by the S05 with 94%.

Euro NCAP again highlighted the critical role of optional safety packs. Kia’s new EV4 achieved four stars in standard form but climbed to a full five stars when fitted with the DriveWise ADAS Safety Pack, which adds radar-based crash avoidance and cyclist ‘dooring’ prevention. Buyers are urged to pay close attention to these safety-enhancing options when specifying new cars.

Among the four-star performers were the Alpine A390, Kia PV5, Jeep Compass and Toyota Aygo X. The A390 and Toyota Yaris both returned 74% Adult Occupant scores, while several models lost marks for less capable crash-avoidance systems.

Hydrogen mobility also made its mark. Hyundai’s new NEXO—only the third hydrogen-powered car ever tested by Euro NCAP—matched the safety levels of conventionally powered SUVs, a promising signal for early adopters of alternative fuels.

Other models tested include the EXLANTIX ET, CHERY TIGGO 4, EBRO s400, GEELY STARRAY EM-i, MG4 EV Urban, Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and Renault Clio.

With 2025 marking Euro NCAP’s busiest testing year on record, the agency says most manufacturers continue to rise to the challenge of increasingly rigorous protocols. Tougher new standards arrive in 2026, raising the bar once again as the industry pushes toward safer mobility for all.
