FG Trains CNG-Powered Tricycle and Motorcycle Technicians in Ekiti

The federal government of Nigeria on Monday commenced Specialized Mechatronics Training on the repair and maintenance of CNG and PMS-powered tricycles and motorcycles in Ekiti State.

Themed: “Empowering Local Technicians for a cleaner Future!” the training, which is organized by the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), in collaboration with Simba Group Nigeria, holds at NADDC Automotive Training Centre, along Ilawe Road, Ado-Ekiti is to run for five days,July 7th to 11th 2025.

The ongoing specialized training is one of the many implemented by the NADDC, especially following establishment of 21 Automotive training centers (ATCs) across the nation’s six geo-political zones.

NADDC’s ATCs are aimed at training and equipping technicians on CNG vehicle conversion one of which it recently carried out in Ekiti State with Lanre Shittu Motors.

The council has also  been involved in various other training programs, including skills upgrade and capacity building in areas like heavy-duty vehicle repair, mechatronics for auto technicians, and software for automotive component design.

So far, NADDC has trained over 20,000 individuals on heavy-duty vehicle and tractor repair and maintenance, as well as specialized mechatronics training for auto technicians and youths.

A Nigerian government agency established to promote and regulate the development of the nation’s automotive industry, NADDC is a parastatal under the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment responsible for initiating, recommending, supervising and regulating policies and programs related to locally manufactured vehicles and components.

Simba Group, NADDC’s partner in the ongoing training in Ekiti state, is the nation’s exclusive distributor of TVS motorcycles and tricycles in Nigeria, with a focus on local assembly and after-sales service.
