…As 111th Annual National Governors Association Winter Meeting Kicks Off
Nearly all American state governors are joining more than 1,500 guests, including leaders from business, the non-profit sector and governments around the world, for the National Governors Association’s 111th annual Winter Meeting, which runs from Friday through Monday.
Jamie Dimon, who leads the largest U.S. bank as chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase & Co., and former presidential advisor Van Jones, who now hosts an eponymous public-affairs program on CNN, are among the guests scheduled to address governors.
LisaGevelber, who leads Grow with Google, the tech company’s economic opportunity initiative focused on workforce development, small business growth and entrepreneurship, will host a conversation on Google’s approach to digital skills training and how governors can harness new opportunities created by technology to equip their states and workforces to thrive in today’s changing economy.
Governors of states and territories, including many of the 22 who have taken office since last November’s midterm elections, will lead and participate in discussions on topics such as child welfare, resiliency against disaster, education reform, entrepreneurship and more.
Held at the Marriott Marquis in downtown Washington, the Winter Meeting is one of the two marquee annual convenings of the National Governors Association. NGA’s Summer Meeting is scheduled for July in Salt Lake City.
As contained in a media statement released on Friday, schedule of the events, includes sessions that are both open and closed to media, who can attend only sessions marked as open to all attendees.
It states: “The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring its fourth annual Invest in America summit with several governors on Monday, Feb. 25.”
Also on Friday, POLITICO and Axios are hosting conversations featuring governors and other guests on the sidelines of the Winter Meeting.
