To create more awareness of the developments in the Nigeria automotive industry, the National Automotive Design and Development Council(NADDC) and the National Orientation Agency(NOA) are set for collaborative engagements in sensitizing the general public about the automotive industry in Nigeria, and the need for patronage of locally assembled vehicles.

This was disclosed on Wednesday 24th July 2024 by the Director General, NADDC Mr. Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin during a Courtesy Visit to the Director General, National Orientation Agency .

Speaking during the visit, Mr. Osanipin stressed on the importance of partnering with NOA and the gains in leveraging on the existing structures of the agency to educate Nigerians about the developments in the automotive industry.

” The aim of this visit is to enlighten the agency about the activities of the NADDC and our stakeholders, and also seek NOA support in sensitizing the public about the locally assembled vehicles, components parts and some initiatives aimed at achieving growth in the industry” he said.

He informed that the visit was also targeted at collaborating with NOA in enlightening the public about the commencement of accreditation and certification of workshops and personel for conversion of Premium Motor Spirits (PMS) vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered vehicles across the country.

He also seized the opportunity to request the agency to assist in beating the drum for patronage of made-in-Nigeria vehicles as the Council by it’s mandate is determined to creating enabling environment for the auto industry to thrive.

“Our aim is to move the Nigerian Auto Industry from Semi-Knocked Down (SKD) to Complete-Knocked Down (CKD) in the next three to four years” he added.

Responding, the Director General (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu applauded the Council for the efforts towards repositioning the Nigerian Auto Industry.

He assured of maximum support in achieving growth in the auto industry, adding that the NOA was set up to serve all the Government agencies by communicating their programs, policies, projects and activities to the public.

Going further, both agencies resolved to set up a committee that would map out the necessary strategies towards achieving fruitful synergy.
