Bajaj tricycle brand is proving a point in Nigeria, as it heads for a final lap of its planned 5000-kilometer journey across the country.
Motoring World’s monitor revealed that, as at 29th August 2020, the expedition convoy had already covered 12 states, with only four more to go, according to their route plan.
After departing Stallion Auto Keke Ltd’s premises in Lagos on the 9th of August 2020, the rally convoy, in a matter of an hour, made it to Shagamu in Ogun State, from where they departed to Ibadan, Oyo State,Ilorin in Kwara state, Lokoja in Kogi state, arriving Makurdi in Benue state on 16th August 2020.
Bajaj convoy afterwards headed for South East and South-South regions, covering Nsukka and Enugu in Enugu State, Abakaliki in Ebonyi State, Calabar in Cross River State, Uyo in Akwa Ibom State, Umuahia and Aba in Abia State, PortHarcourt in Rivers state and Awka in Anambra state.
Significantly, Bajaj-Keke Rally has been a combination of travel, tourism and awareness creation about prevention of COVID-19 spread. They do not just ride through cities and towns. They leave their tyre marks at certain important landmarks dotting the country, including the late sage Obafemi Awolowo Statue in Ikenne, Ogun State, Liberty Stadium in Ibadan, Oyo state; Abakaliki Roundabout Waterfall, Otigba Roundabout in Enugu and Mary Slessor Statue in Calabar. Remember the late Mary Slessor remain in the memory of Nigeria as the one instrumental to putting an end to killing of twins in Nigeria. Bajaj Keke Rally rekindled the memory before heading for River Niger & Benue Confluence Bridge, another important landmark of Nigeria.
Surprisingly, so far, neither sickness nor weariness has stopped Baba Bajaj (as it is popularly known in Nigeria) from forging ahead. Like the pre-automobile horses of ancient time, Baba Bajaj convoy keeps galloping on with valor and vigor.
