Recent launch of diesel-powered Ford Everest into the Nigerian market, instead of its petrol version, has been attributed to safety reasons, Coscharis Motors, the nation’s exclusive franchisee of Ford brand has revealed.

The new Everest was on Wednesday launched into the nation’s market at the venue of this year’s Lagos Auto Fair held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos.

In his welcome address at the launch, the company’s Group General Manager, Marketing & Corporate Communications, Abiona Babarinde, revealed that his company offered diesel –powered Everest, because it is more ideal for use in highly inflammable working environments than the petrol version.

“Interestingly,” Babarinde explained, “we have opted for the diesel engine, which is what some of our oil services customers have been yearning for, as it is more ideal for access into highly inflammable and undulating locations than its petrol counterpart.”

Nonetheless, buyers of the new Ford Everest on offer in Nigeria have alternatives of either 2.2 -Litre or 3.2-Litre engine with 6 speed automatic transmission and four-wheel-drive.

“I can proudly state that the new Ford Everest is the most sophisticated Everest seven-seater Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) on the market, Babarinde pointed out, adding, “it is more appealing than ever with a range of styling, suspension and feature upgrades.

“As Ford’s premium offering in the rapidly growing SUV market, the New Everest puts the emphasis on quality, refinement and luxury matched to exceptional space and practicality. Its ground clearance is superb and suits the Nigerian road perfectly.

Babarinde expressed excitement over addition of the new Everest to Coscharis Ford line-up, because, according to him, the car occupies an important position in the SUV segment, which continues to grow in Nigeria.

“We are really excited about the new Everest joining the Coscharis Ford line-up,” he enthused, adding, “As we know, consumers are continuously opting for versatile, family-oriented vehicles that suit their active lifestyles and our roads conditions.”

Aesthetically, the New Everest completely aligns with the new Ford design direction – subtle but effective styling updates and eye-catching exterior, providing a more refined and luxurious cabin environment.

For the first time, the new Everest’s impressive range of high-tech features the Passive Entry and Passive Start (PEPS) system, fitted as standard on the XLT and Limited models.

Others are Semi-Automatic Parallel Park Assist (SAPPA), electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) and sensors used to steer the vehicle safely and perfectly into place.

There is an impressive standard safety package across the line-up and a full Category 1 Thatcham-specification alarm is now standard on all Everest XLT and Limited models for enhanced anti-theft security.

SYNC®3 with Navigation is standard on the Everest Limited model, linked to the integrated eight-inch touch-screen colour display, two USB ports and Bluetooth connectivity.
