[dropcap]F[/dropcap]or a first time car buyer, who is interested in starting with a Sports Utility Vehicle, Hyundai ix35, a mid-size Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), might not a bad idea, depending on what are your priorities in a car.
If you are lucky to source one sold by its first buyer, you have struck a good deal. Reason: It comes with a five-year warranty. And if less than five years before you purchase it as second hand, especially through the right source like an accredited franchise dealer or directly first buyer, the warrantee you will continue to enjoy until five year elapses. And unlike many of its competitors, on its ix35, Hyundai places no upper mileage limit.
And if you are a lover of auto safety and equipment, this is a car for you. I can tell you that for nothing, although Hyundain discontinued its production years ago, it is a suitable car for families, who would want an SUV for safety reason, because it garnered five stars, when crash-tested by EuroNap, as it came with roster of airbags, anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, traction control, tyre-pressure monitoring and even a system to prevent a swaying trailer from jack-knifing.
But if your priority is a car that is fun to drive, delete Hyundai ix35 from your options, for you might be disappointed, as it is not as fun to drive as its rivals. Like the Santa FE of old, ix35 is not a full time four-wheel-drive. Under a normal condition, it sends up to 100% of its power to the front axle. But when driving under a poor road condition, for example on a typical slippery road, that is when there is loss of traction at the front; it sends as much as 50% of power to the rear wheels.
And talking about style, a clean Hyundai ix35 can still stand shoulder high beside its today’s rivals. So if your priority is style, I advise you go for it. But, like I emphasized in the first part of this write-up, be wary of buying any imported used vehicle you do not know its source. It is dangerous.
