[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi has directed the Corps patrol teams nationwide to sustain their vigilance in the determination to ensure safety throughout the Ester festive period.
The Corps Marshal gave the directive in Akure, Ondo state during his monitoring of traffic to the state. Receiving briefs from the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Vincent Jack, on the traffic status of the state since the commencement of the special operations, the Corps Marshal noted with satisfaction the high level of compliance to traffic rules and regulations by motorists nationwide , enjoining them to sustain the practice.
According to him, given his experience from the monitoring exercise he personally carried out along some corridors of the highway in the country and reports so far received from the supervisors from the National Headquarters as well as Field Commanders, the situation nationwide is under control.
He added that even though there are few cases of road mishaps in parts of the country due to heightened human and vehicular traffic, the FRSC personnel have remained very committed to the success of the exercise by doing everything possible to ensure that the present level of sanity is sustained.
Oyeyemi attributed the few cases of road obstruction recorded in parts of the country and delays experienced on certain roads to impatience on the part of some drivers and security checks being undertaken at some of the military check points, urging motorists to show understanding at such locations by being patient and drive within the limits of traffic rules and regulations.
The Corps Marshal assured that the FRSC personnel in conjunction with other security agencies have been up and doing in their management of the traffic challenges across the country . He commended the staff and members of the Special Marshal for the commitment they are showing towards ensuring safety of all road readers.
Oyeyemi expressed optimism that with sustained effort, the celebration would be safe and hitch-free as planned by the Corps.
Continuing in his report, the Ondo state Sector Commander restated his command’s commitment to the success of the goals of the special patrol, assuring the Corps Marshal that his men would remain vigilant to the the Easter operational programmes . He further stated that the deployments already made by his command would be sustained throughout the period of the patrol, based on specific requirements.
As part of the Corps Marshal’s monitoring of the special Easter patrol, he is expected to cover more corridors in parts of the country during the period of the celebration.
