[dropcap]A[/dropcap]s part of its corporate social responsibility programmes, Coscharis Motors, Nigeria’s sole representative for BMW and other premium brands, hosted and celebrated its customers at this year’s annual BMW golf competition, held in Lagos on Friday.
The tournament, which held at Lakowe Lake Golf Club, Lekki, Lagos hosted club golfer from over 50 countries and also attracted presence of Coscharis premium customers from all over Nigeria.
In his address at the at occasion, President of Coscharis Group, Dr. Cosmas Maduka, who was represented by an Executive Director of the company, Mr Fred Amobi, reiterated that Coscharis traditionally sees the event as an opportunity to host, appreciate and celebrate all BMW customers and other players that have relationship with the brand.
He stressed: “It is a platform we use to appreciate BMW customers who have been loyal to the brand over the years.
“So, you can see that it goes beyond the game of golf. We are using this sport, golf, to celebrate our customers and bring them together to enjoy the game they love.”
On the significance of the tournament, the Company’s General Manager, Marketing & Corporate Communications, Abiona Babarinde, said his company organizes the annual event to celebrate the brand BMW and its customers.
” In the process of being represented in the tournament,” he stressed, ” Coscharis will always have a local tournament, where the eventual winner will represent the nation Nigeria at the world tournament. Year in, year out, BMW celebrates the brand with the sport of golf.
“As a premium brand, BMW resonates perfectly with the elite game of golf and that is why every year, Coscharis will always bring customers, stakeholders together to celebrate with the golf tournament and have a representative at the world cup, which comes up at a particular place every year. By the grace of God, it will hold at Dubai in 2017.”
A part from the competition, Coscharis also has variants of BMW in display during the event, which, according to Babarinde, was also an opportunity for those who are not BWW customers to experience other brand.
“So, here you can book for your test drive,” Babarinde pointed out, adding, “We also have our after sales team on ground. They will engage you if you have issues with your BMW.”
On how winners of the event emerged, Babarinde said it was anchored by judges with technical knowledge.
“Coscharis has no knowledge of how the winners emerged,” he noted. “It was anchored by Lakowe Golf Club. This is a golf course. This is what they do. And that is why we have players from other brands that have affinity to us, especially MTN with some of their premium customers, Techno Mobile, Cascade and Access Bank. They all brought in their players and all these players were grouped.
“They assembled as early as 7 am and could not round up until about 3pm. That is why the prize given ceremony was delayed, because Lakowe golf course had to collate and award the prizes. So, the tournament is open and credible.”
The General Manager, Lakowe Golf Club Campbell Elliot also confirmed that the collation process was credible, describing BMW as a huge sponsor of golf worldwide and a brand with high network of client who are sporty.
He said: “As a brand and a company, we have a strong relationship with Coscharis, which spans over two years now.”
While Delta State’s Commissioner of Women affairs, Community and Social Development, Rev. Mrs Omatsola Williams emerged as a winner, overall winner was Mr Adetunji Adebayo, who will represent Nigeria at BMW World Golf Tournament in Dubai next year.
