Stallion Introduces Locally Assembled, Commercial Vehicles for Nigerian SMEs

The commercial vehicle division of the Stallion Motors Nigeria has introduced a range of affordably priced KY5 MINI and KY10 Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) to cater for the growing demand for functional ONE-TON and TWO-TON payload vehicles in the country.

This category of vehicles, especially the renowned brands, are currently priced beyond the limits of start-ups and emerging commerce in the country’s small and medium enterprises’ sector.

According to Stallion Motors Commercial Vehicle Head of Sales and Marketing, Anjan Aditya the introduction of Stallion Motors low-priced KY5 MINI and KY10 branded cargo trucks is expected to stem the tide of incessant downtime, profit losses and accidents, resulting from the application of decrepit and unserviceable vehicles by emerging commercial ventures in the country,

Designed and manufactured in China by Chongqing Changan Kuayue Automobile Co. Limited popularly known as KYC, these payload CVs are being assembled locally by Nigerians at the Stallion franchisee facility in Lagos.

Mr Aditya explained that the company had in the wake of numerous challenges experienced by emerging enterprises conducted independent survey of businesses in Nigeria with recourse to their most dreaded encounters.

“We discovered forthwith that majority of emerging businesses including some renowned enterprises are either besieged by wanton inability to source affordably priced functional light commercial vehicles or are constrained to buying unserviceable decrepit vehicles that are prone to accidents, incessant downtime and consequential loss of profits,” the company spokesman added.

The KY5 MINI and KY10 range of freight vehicles are functional and resilient for start-ups, especially small and medium scale enterprises.

Also adding that these special-purpose light commercial vehicles are here to stay, Mr. Aditya said “they surely, will help businesses recoup their losses and reposition for a better and profitable future.”

Assembled, sold and serviced by the commercial vehicle division of the Stallion Motors Nigeria, KYC range of payloads are available in all showrooms nationwide.

The KY5 MINI

Powered by 1.05L /47kw AFII – 05(Euro V) Petrol Engine, the single cabin KY5 MINI is capable of producing 64bhp of power and maximum torque of 91Nm/rpm. It is also mated with a six-speed manual transmission gear system delivering maximum efficiency and optimum performance.

KY5 MINI is designed tough and robust to transcend difficult terrains with specially mounted independent front MacPherson suspension and rear Leaf Spring suspensions.

This is in addition to the vehicle’s Pinion and Rack electric power steering, which makes turning and parking in extremely constricted traffic and street corners an easy task.

Internal Cargo Dimension

That’s not all. The cargo dimension (length 2600mm, width 1450mm and height 360mm) is designed to allow seamless loading from either sides of the vehicle with a palpable wheel base of 2700mm.

The makers didn’t also compromise safety as every freight is guaranteed by a needful 165/70R14 (single rear tyre) tyre structure, efficient front disc brakes and rear drum brakes that respond practically to any road condition.

The KY5 MINI clutch engages the Diaphragm Spring type – one of the best in the light commercial vehicle segment, and its minimum ground clearance of 150mm is unprecedented just as its quintessential average fuel consumption efficiency of ≤ 7.6 L/ 100km (@ speed 50km/h).

The KY10

Designed bigger and sturdier, the single cabin KY10 is a superior version of the MINI series but fitted with larger internal cargo dimension (length 3400mm, width 1680mm and height 380mm.)

Its wheel base of 3400mm and gross weight of 3510 is comparable to some renowned brands of 2.7L freighters, which explains why both the front and rear suspensions are fortified with Leaf Springs alignment.

Powertrain

The KY10 is powered by a tougher 1.5L/82kw DK15–10 (Euro V) engine, capable of churning out 112bhp and maximum torque of 143Nm/rpm. This powerful engine is supported by a six-speed manual transmission gear system and have a differential gear ratio of 5.375.

But quite unlike the KY5 MINI, the KY10 is fitted with 185R14LT (double rear tyres), with 175mm minimum ground clearance; robust front disk and rear drum brake outline and fuel consumption efficiency of ≤ 8.9 L/ 100km (@ speed 50km/h).

Other striking features in both models are heater, MP3 Player, radio, laminated glass and lighter.

Currently exported and sold in 50 countries and regions in South America, Europe, Southeast Asia and Africa, the “KYC” is a joint venture enterprise of Kuayue Group and District Government of China as well as a subsidiary of Changan Automobile Group, and it specializes in building commercial vehicles.

These vehicles are sold in China under the brand name Changan/Chana and as KYC in overseas markets.

An award winning company, KYC Automobile has been distinguished in various fields of endeavours and recently acknowledged as Chongquing Technology Innovation Enterprise, Chongquing Automobile and Parts Export Basement, China Intellectual Property Advanced Enterprise and very recently, top 100 Chongquing Enterprises among others.
