Coscharis Motors Launches All-New Ford Escape at Lagos International Motor Show

Coscharis Motors, exclusive distributor of Ford vehicles in Nigeria, returned to the Lagos International Motor Show for the unveiling of the all-new Ford Escape SUV on Wednesday.

Visitors to the event, holding at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, are also opportune to view the best-selling Ford Ranger pick-up truck, the stylish Ford Edge and Ford Explorer SUVs.

Ford is the second largest SUV brand in the world, and every model is backed by the global automaker’s SUV expertise, and robust 50-year heritage in the segment.

Speaking at the launch, Abiona Babarinde, General Manager, Marketing and Communications at Coscharis Motors, described the new Ford Escape as a vehicle that can be so many different things for Ford customers.

“We are thrilled with the new Escape joining our line-up,” he said. “More importantly, our customers will be thrilled too. With stunning new design inside and out, smart technologies, fuel-efficient yet powerful engines, and five-star safety, it’s a vehicle that can be so many different things for our customers.”

The new Escape features Ford’s latest design language for a bold, smart look that is shared with the brand’s other SUVs. Its large, upper trapezoidal grille, and a smaller lower grille, are flanked by sleek new headlamps, incorporating optional daytime running lights, complemented by functional, stylish fog lamps.

“Ford designers,” Babarinde stated further, “went to great lengths to ensure the vehicle and its many features – large and small – are smart, and provide welcome benefits to daily routines. The hands-free Power Tailgate, for example, is something customers have really grown to appreciate, and it is available as an option across the Escape range. No matter what you might find filling your arms – from sports gear to shopping bags, or even a toddler or two – the Power Tailgate can save the day.”

Ford’s new SYNC®3* connectivity system is also available as an option – depending on the Escape model and in-car entertainment package selected. Drivers can operate the 8” touchscreen – the largest in this class – in the same way they use their smartphones. A new interface features larger, easier to operate buttons, and enables pinch and swipe gestures for the first time.

The latest Ford technologies and sophisticated body engineering help drivers see more clearly, and enhance safety on the road for both vehicle occupants and other road users. The Adaptive Front Lighting System – depending on the Escape model – monitors ambient light conditions, and automatically optimizes visibility by adjusting the beam angle of the new optional Bi-Xenon headlights, depending on the vehicle’s speed, steering angle, and distance to an object in front. It features anti-glare capability, as well as country road, City Street, and maneuvering beam shaping abilities.

Standard, segment-defining safety features across the Escape range boast: seven airbags (including a driver’s knee airbag), ABS brakes with Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Trailer Stability function, Hill Launch Assist (HLA), and Rollover Mitigation (ROM).

An enhanced version of Ford’s Active City Stop collision avoidance system, and the New Perpendicular Parking functionality, which uses additional ultrasonic sensors at the push of a button, alongside the semi-autonomous Active Park Assist technology, are also available as options.

Ford Ranger, also being showcased at the event, is a great all-rounder, combining the perfect blend of on-road comfort and stability with off-road capability. It boasts all the toughness and rugged capabilities of a pick-up truck, but also features smart technology, outstanding safety, superior fuel economy, and high standards of quality and comfort normally associated with passenger cars. The Ranger was Ford’s top-selling vehicle in Nigeria in 2017.

Ford Edge, another front-line exhibit at the 13th Lagos Motor Show, is one of the auto maker’s  stalwart products that has already sold extremely well in Nigeria. It offers space, comfort, versatility, technology, and eye-catching style. It is a versatile crossover SUV that delivers the most powerful engine in its class, and an array of smart technologies.

Also thrilling visitors at the event is Ford Explorer, a three-row SUV with outstanding quality and comfort. Its design brings a stylish look to a utility that features rugged capability, surprising fuel efficiency, and high-tech features that enhance the driving experience. The Explorer has been America’s top-selling SUV for 25 years, with more than 7 million sold in the United States alone. It continues to be a favourite among Nigerian consumers, and in 2017 it won the Nigeria Auto Journalists Association ‘SUV of the Year’ title.

Ford offers Nigerians and other West African markets a full range of high-quality products with global appeal.
