REVIEW: 4008, SUV with Peugeot’s Signature

No matter what, the lion can’t be hidden. Remove the name tag; somehow, Peugeot’s signature will give it out. It’s not signature with letters. It’s about sexy styling. It’s about elegance. [dropcap]W[/dropcap]hen Peugeot decided to join the Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) club, it did so, borrowing a Mitsubishi’s platform, a common cost-saving practice in the auto manufacturing world.  That was how Peugeot’s own SUV, the 4008 was born.

Styling

But if you like, remove the Peugeot logo and park the French maker’s off-roader beside other untagged SUVs from other auto makers. Peugeot 4008’s charm, sexy character, including floating grille, will give it out, which is why, all over the world, including Nigeria, Peugeot brand, like Premier League teams, have their fans around the world – automotive addicts, who would ride in nothing other than Peugeot.

PEUGEOT-4008-7And since, for some reasons, the ultimate and hottest automobiles now happens to be SUVs, Peugeot took its time and rolled out its own very first entry into the off-roader club, thereby joining the likes of other unexpected SUV making members like  Bentley with Bentaya, Jaguar with F-Pace, among others.

More than other modern Peugeot models, the 4008 SUV asserts a personality with audacious lines and a genuine all-terrain attitude that is both expressive and dynamic. Compact and solid, the Peugeot 4008 is an off-road vehicle with a strong personality.

Ride and Handling

According to test-drivers, who happen to put recent version through its pace, Peugeot 4008 combines outstanding handling with comfort. The versatility, according to Peugeot, was achieved through a high quality suspension system and a range of transmission mode.

As contained in a statement from PAN Nigeria,  “The 4×4 mode of the 4008 overcomes every terrain when the need arises.

“While the two-wheel drive is at home with dry tarmac road. In poor road like sandy or muddy road, the 4WD Lock mode tackles the road with ease.”

Power

The 4008 is available with a 2.0 litre engine, which delivers 150 brake-horse power. Here, the user has the advantage of fuel economy and at the same time, a powerful engine. This engine is marched with a continuously variable automatic transmission, CVT, combined with steering wheel paddle-shift controls for driving pleasure.

Interior

Other details like the LED lighting on the side of the glass panoramic roof contribute to the perceive quality of  the interior.

Equipment

The 4008 is fitted with efficient and practical equipment, devised for occupants’ pleasures, safety and driving comfort. For instance, with the 4008, the traditional key has been replaced by an electronic recognition system that simplifies using the 4008. With the identifier still in your pocket or hand-bag, you can access your 4008, start and stop it simply by pressing the button.

The vehicle can be locked again simply by pressing the button on the front door handle or boot as you leave.

Comfort and Space

peugeot-4008-2016-pics-108162Peugeot 4008 comes with generous legroom and headroom for all occupants. It also offers occupants comforts worthy of the finest saloon cars: numerous storage comportments, automatic air conditioning, a refrigerated glove box, electric windows, quality sound system etc.

Safety

Peugeot didn’t leave anything out in ensuring safety in the new 4008. The SUV uses an ESP that incorporates traction control and hill assist functions. It is also fitted with automatic light illumination based on the exterior level, with fog lights built into the front bumper, Xenon headlamps combined with headlamp washers and an electric attitude correction system that reduces dazzle for other road users.

The 4008 is fitted with seven air bags, ISOFIX, as well as front and rear audio park assist system. The customer can choose from a variety of interior trims.  The 301, 508, Partner and 3008 are other Peugeot models complementing the 4008 on the Nigerian road.
