Traffic Law that Violates Human Right?

Chatting on Whatsapp, a member of a group of University school mates informed others of latest anti-one-way traffic law introduced in Lagos state.  Response of a member to the information was huilarious. Enjoy it…….

Group member 01: Effective from yesterday, Nov. 27, 2017, driving on one way in Lagos has penalty of one year imprisonment and/or confiscation of the vehicle. There is no option of fine. There are mobile courts with Magistrates everywhere for it.

Member 02: That law is unconstitutional, inhuman and wicked

Member 03: Unconstitutional?

Member 02: It violates our freedom of movement. Why do they want to confiscate a poor man’s car? That’s wickedness

Group member 01: I think you missed your calling.  You should have been a lawyer. Come to think of it.  How does it affect you self. Did you see your town’s name written anywhere? It’s for Lagosians!

And by the way, why would a poor man drive one way?

Group Member 02: Freedom of movement is guaranteed by the constitution as an inalienable fundamental human right. And the constitution is superior to any other law. What if it will cost him more fuel to go round? Is it not the duty of govt to provide for the welfare of the people?

Group Member 01: Just don’t come to Lagos to drive. Before they drive you into Kirikiri Maximum prison.
