Online Driving Test Launched

First-time drivers eager to hit the road in California can now practice for the DMV written test online at no cost, with the launch of Driving Test California.

The free website allows learner drivers to practice against more than 230 DMV test questions, across eight different quizzes. Driving Test California’s online resources include multimedia imagery to help students understand real driving situations.

High definition images are used to create an engaging and convenient way to learn the driving basics before sitting the official DMV written test.

A spokesperson at Driving Test California said, “With an official pass rate of just 69%, it’s no easy task for a young or new driver to ace their DMV written test, even after studying the Driver’s Handbook. Our new website provides free educational courses, traffic safety training, and professional continuing education for drivers to ensure they not only succeed and pass the test to legally get behind the wheel, but to ensure new road users are confident and safe on the road.”

Under California law, minors (those aged between 15.5 and 17.5) must answer 48 questions when taking the permit test, with adults faced with 36 multiple-choice questions. The state of California requires student drivers to achieve a score of 83 or higher to pass, preparation is vital.

Driving Test California’s practice tests can be easily accessed online, from any location using a PC, tablet or smartphone. With a choice of eight different practice tests, covering everything from road signs to rules of the road, each of which mimics the actual DMV test, student drivers can test their own knowledge, become familiar with the test format to keep nerves at bay on the day itself and identify areas for further improvement before sitting the official DMV test.

A spokesperson added, “Just as students will sit down and study before mid-terms and final exams, it’s important to really prepare for the DMV test. The required pass rate is high and for young drivers, the pressure of taking the test can feel immense.

“Our practice tests are designed to help student drivers feel more confident, learn effectively so they are responsible on the road and practice good time management techniques to increase their chances of success on the day. Taking practice tests and building up that knowledge is a great confidence booster, which is only a good thing for those graduating to real roads.”
