Jaguar-Landrover Thrills and Roars in Lagos

Coscharis Motors, at the weekend, rolled Jaguar-Landrover auto machines into Tafawa Balewa Square(TBS), Lagos, Nigeria, enabling car lovers and high net worth individuals  to catch some fun, test-driving cars on a bright sunny Saturday, reports Motoring World’s senior Correspondent, ROTIMI ASHER

[dropcap]L[/dropcap]ast Saturday, Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos came alive. By noon-day, sporadic mechanical roars rented the air, the kind that petrol heads would love to hear and bear. Hurrying passers-by suspected a motor rally. But wrong, it was the day Jaguar-Landrover machines rolled out of showrooms for a weekend of spin at Lagos TBS, courtesy of Coscharis Motors.

Various models of Jaguar luxury and sports machines as well as Range Rover and Landrover Discovery Sports were on ground, daring car lovers to have a feel of their capabilities.

On ground to guide drivers through vital functions of the latest machines were driving instructors from South Africa. Tagged Jaguar-Landrover “Ride and Drive,” the event was held by Coscharis Motors (Nigeria’s representative for Jaguar-Landrover) in partnership with MTN and Stanbic IBTC, both of which were also on ground, exhibiting their services.

DSCF2441Abiona Babarinde, Coscharis Motors’ General Manager (Marketing &Corporate Services) told Motoring World that the event was organized to enable customers and prospective automotive buyers to have a total experience of the Jaguar-Landrover brand.

He said: “This is platform for getting our customers and prospects to experience the brand we sell in terms of ‘come-and-have-a-feel’ and ‘come-and-have-the touch’, which is why we call it ‘Ride and Drive’. You would be driven, and you will also drive. It’s all about having a total experience of the Jaguar-Landrover brand.”

Coscharis’ after-sales team were also on ground for what Mr. Babarinde likened to an auto clinic.

“In other words,” he explained, “if a customer has one-off issues, this platform can be used to clarify that with the after-sales. So it’s a total package for the existing customers to look at new ones.

“Then for prospective customers, be it for Ford Explorer or BMW or MG, they are also welcome to come and test a Jaguar-Landrover. And if you are another brand person, it’s an opportunity to come and experience what we’ve got.

“Experiencing it is the best way we feel you can take a buying decision easily. You look at the interior, the capacity, you have every feel. That is why we are not just bringing you to come and drive, we also have on ground our experts from Jaguar-Landrover South Africa, who are here tell you, if you are an existing owner, that you are probably underutilizing the machine you have.

“What we sell basically is not just the car. We sell your lifestyle. And that is the beauty of it.”
