The Ministry of Transportation says it will collaborate with the Amalgamated Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Owners, Repairs and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN) to drive the transportation sector.
The Minister of State for Transportation, Prince Ademola Adegoroye, said this when the President of ACOMORAN, Amb. Samsudeen Apelogun, led a delegation to visit him in Abuja on Thursday.
“We will find a way to work together. I have been thinking about it too, that there must be a way that we must come together and do something.
“Like I said, the world today belongs to people who think out of the box, so it is good to think out of the box and do something that will benefit us as individuals, association and nation.
“We are partners in progress so I am here for you. Anytime you need my assistance, feel free to come and I will be glad to oblige you,’’ Adegoroye said.
On the forth-coming ACOMORAN Summit, the minister, while assuring the group of his attendance said the event was a welcome development.
He said:“ It is  a good idea, it further shows that you are an organised people and you know what you are doing.
“I hope and pray that date does not conflict with any matters of international interest, but I will do all within my capacity to make it to the summit by the grace of God.’’
The minister, while commending the team for the visit, urged them not to relent in their endevours but try to make a mark in the society for the good of the nation.
“All that you want to do, I pray that God will support and assist you. Whatever you want to do, don’t hesitate , you must make your mark and then God and the people will be the  judge,’’ he added.
Earlier, the ACOMORAN president said the association was a critical stakeholder not just in the transportation sector, but in the nation as a whole.
Apelogun then appealed to the minister to avail the association of his presence during its forthcoming summit on Oct. 28.
“We want to do ACOMORAN summit which will come up on Oct. 28, at the Musa Yar’Adua Centre and we will like you to take out time out of your busy schedule to declare the event open.
“After the proposed ban on the usage of motorcycle in the city centre, we do not want to remain idle. We want the government to recognize that we are doing something useful.
“So we want to gather heads of the union across the states, educate our members on how we can help the government and also ways of ensuring your successful tenure in office as minister.
“ We are critical stakeholders not only at the ministry but across Nigeria.
“ And in this era when elections are fast approaching, we need to sensitize and educate our members not to involve in election violence or malpractices.
“To eradicate security challenges in the country is not just by use of sophisticated weapon; useful information can save one million Nigerians.
“Key stakeholders have already indicated interest and have assured us that they will attend the summit and we hope you will also make out time to grace the event,’’ he said.
The ACOMORAN president then commended the ministry on the release of the remaining 23 victims that were held captive by terrorists that attacked the Abuja-Kaduna train on March 28.
According to him, the release is an unprecedented achievement for your tenure .
