Toyota Nigeria Celebrates Outstanding Customers

…As Nigeria’s “Mr. Toyota” Clocks 80 in June

Exactly 60 days before Chief Michael Ade.Ojo, popularly known in Nigeria as Mr Toyota, clocks 80 years, Toyota Nigeria Limited (TNL) on Thursday celebrated its outstanding customers, rewarding them with millions of Naira.

At the company’s 2018 Award Night held at the prestigious Lagos Civic Centre, Chief Ade.Ojo , founder of Elizade Nigeria Limited and Chairman of TNL, , who announced plans to celebrate his 80th birthday come 4th of June 2018, thanked Toyota’s consistent customers in Nigeria, promising  that the company will continue to meet their needs, even after he retires.

“I thank you for your resilience, for you have never disappointed us as customers,” Chief Ade.Ojo stated in a voice coloured with emotion. “I thank you for providing us food. I thank you for being with us all these years. You’ve been wonderful.”

According to him, despite the unbroken dwindling sales suffered by the nation’s auto industry since 2014, Toyota remains the leading automobile brand in Nigeria.

“We’ve encountered a list of problems in the last four years,” he lamented, “Our sales have been plummeting since 2014 to date. It’s not limited to Toyota but to all automobiles.”

Ade.Ojo, who gave an indication that he might retire soon, assured Toyota dealers and customers that his son, Mr. Ade-Ojo, who is the Managing Director of TNL, is capable enough to continue to meet their needs.

“I am happy to tell you that Kunle (TNL boss) will be there for you, when Daddy retires,” he assured.

In the same vein, TNL’s Managing Director, who, in his earlier address, commended his staff for dedication and contribution to the success and survival of the company, also expressed appreciation to customers and dealers of TNL.

He said: “We cannot overlook the dedication and commitment of the members of the Toyota family in the implementation of strategies that are imperative of meeting our customers’ expectations and sustaining the number one position of Toyota in Nigeria.”

Ade-Ojo also expressed gratitude to Toyota dealers across Nigeria, adding that, “Without them, we won’t be able to offer first-class service we offer to customers.”

As usual, TNL gave something back to its outstanding customers of the year 2017, as CCECC Nigeria Limited (a subsidiary of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, offering construction and engineering services in Nigeria), was crowned Customer of the Year. While Access Bank Plc was awarded as first Runner-up, First Bank Nigeria Plc went home with two awards, namely: Customer of the year (second runner-up) and Evergreen Customer of the Year.

Motoring Journalists of the Year award Category also went to Mike Ochonma of Businessday (Overall Winner), Theodore Okpara of The Vanguard (Second Runner-Up) and Rasheed Bisiriyu of The Punch(First Runner-up)
