The Nigerian Police said it arrested about 31 armed robbers in Lagos environs the past week alone. The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, said this on Friday at the weekly briefing, in Ikeja.
Mr. Fatai Owoseni said the suspects who arrested in different parts of the State were overran by the men of the Police force at Ojota, Oshodi, Victoria Island, Orile, Ikorodu, Igando, Anthony village and of course, Ikeja.
The commissioner also hinted that the leader of a militant group which terrorised Igando area some weeks ago was among suspects arrested on Friday.
Mr. Owoseni alleged that while some of the suspects trackdown bank customers, others attacked people at BRT bus stops in the early mornings and robbed motorists at rush-hour traffic.
The commissioner noted that, “Items recovered from them include a Beretta pistol, two locally-made short guns, cartridges, ammunition, charms, speed boat and 12 vehicles.
And he declared that, “They will be charged to court soon,’’.
The commissioner however, appealed to personnel of the command to be alert always, especially during the ember months and during the Sallah celebration.
