Oyeyemi Charges FRSC Admin Officers on Due Diligence

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dr Boboye has enjoined admin officers of the Corps to always display competence, professionalism and due diligence in the conduct of their duties to avoid putting the Corps in any embarrassing situation.

He made the assertion on Thursday while declaring open a one day sensitization workshop organized by Admin and Human Resources department for its officers at the FRSC National Headquarters Abuja.

The Corps Marshal expressed displeasure at observable gaps being left by some admin officers in the course of discharging their responsibilities which create delay, distortion and disaffection to some affected personnel. These, he said must stop henceforth, as such glaring cases of dereliction of duty would no longer be condoned, warning he would not hesitate to take drastic action against any staff found to have contributed to any misnomer in the system.

Oyeyemi fawned at the practice by some admin officers who fail to file documents diligently, timely and to the relevant offices, noting that any such cases of omission or commission traceable to any admin personnel henceforth, would be severely punished. He disclosed that in his commitment to building a robust administrative system that could withstand the test of time, he has ordered for full quality management system audit of the FRSC admin department in line with the international standards practice adopted by the Corps, vowing that drastic action would be taken after submission of the report to restore sanity to the department.

The Corps Marshal also charged the admin officers to thoroughly reexamine themselves and their roles in the FRSC within the context of strategic human capacity development, stressing that as professionals, they are traditionally trusted with the custody of classified information and documents which they must never divulge to unauthorized persons. He added that being not avenue for enmeshing wealth, admin officers must see themselves as living above board and avoid corrupt practices. “You must live above and remain exemplary in your conduct,” he said.

He reiterated his commitment to addressing issues that could address safety, security and welfare of the staff, calling on the organizers to devote the workshop to critically reviewing their activities for the outgoing year and come up with area of improvement in the coming year, especially as FRSC attains 30 years within the next five months.

The Corps Marshal calls for rededication and innovativeness of the admin staff in handling the affairs of the department, enjoining them to be committed to save the Corps from embarrassment due to negligence, incompetence and ineptitude of the staff.
