Over 10 People Burnt To Death on Lagos- Ibadan Expressway

Over ten people were burnt to death when two Mazda buses and one other vehicle caught fire as they collided at Ogere area of Ogun state on Lagos Ibadan Expressway.

The incident which happened on Sunday was confirmed by the Ogun State Sector Command, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

The Spokesperson of FRSC, Florence Okpe said, ‘’ the accident which involved three vehicles occurred in the night to Sunday Morning.

According to her, ‘’ the accident involved 18 people. While seven were rescued, 11 others unidentified as they were burnt beyond recognition.

‘’ The seven rescued with degree of injuries  comprising five male adults, one female and a child were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere for medical attention. One of the victims rejected by the hospital was finally taken to Babcock Hospital in Ilasan, Ogun State.’’

‘’ The impact of the crash was affecting Ibadan- Lagos bound vehicle. So, the fire service in Shagamu was called to put out the fire while traffic has been diverted to Lagos-Ibadan route as the vehicles were burning.

Okpe advised motorists to cooperate with traffic managers and obey rules and regulation as they drive along route.
