[dropcap]A[/dropcap]nother vehicle assembly plant is about to take off in Lagos Nigeria, courtesy of Chinese leading automobile manufacturer, Guangzhou Automobile Company, GAC.
Towards this end, a high level government inspection team led by National Automotive Council’s Director of Policy and Planning, Mr Luqman Mamudu, has carried out a preliminary check up at the proposed assembly plant.
The inspection team, which also had Engineer Joke Oniteri of NAC and an official of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, was received by the Administration Director of CIG (representative of GAC in Nigeria), Mr. Felix Lee, It would be recalled that CIG recently set up an ultra-modern auto facility on Victoria Island to offer GAC models to its numerous customers as well comprehensive after-sales services and auto assembling.
CIG Motors, sole authorized distributor of the GAC brand of vehicles in Nigeria, won the Nigeria Transport Award, as the Best New Chinese Auto Brand 2013/2014. CIG motors, with its headquarters/parent company (Choice International) in Guangzhou city, has operated in Nigeria for about 17 years marketing the Lontor brand of products, gaining managerial experience and understanding what the Nigerian market needs.
Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. was founded in 1997 and, in 2005, became a holding of Guangzhou Automobile Industry group, and a joint-stock company. GAC is one of the top five biggest Chinese automobile manufacturers with their headquarters in Guangzhou, China. Its world class factory was finished in September 2010, manufacturing 100,000 vehicles and accessories annually.
