Mercedes-Benz Launches Revolutionary Trucks into Nigerian Market

Weststar Associates Limited, Authorized General Distributor for Mercedes-Benz in Nigeria on Tuesday introduced all-new Mercedes-Benz Actros and Arocs into the Nigerian market amidst colorful ceremony flavored with African traditional drumming and dancing.

The company’s Managing Director, Mr. Mirko Plath, represented by Weststar’s Chief Finance Officer, Ms Mary Ojulari, described the heavy duty trucks as an “improvement to the already existing excellent products.”

According to him, the Mercedes-Benz’s Research and Development team left nothing to chance in creating the new Actros and Arocs.

“The experts,” he pointed out, “extensively tested every detail, because vehicles in this market segment must be extremely reliable to sustain its place at the top position in the industry.”

Mr. Plath recalled that Mercedes-Benz brand had been successful over the years and has earned its respect and recognition in the Nigerian market over time, especially in the heavy-duty truck segment.

Also addressing newsmen at the launch, Daimler’s head of Sales and Customer Service, Mr. Torsten Bauerheim, described All- new Actros as a synonym for efficiency and reliability and the all-new Arocs, a symbol for reliability and robustness, worldwide, but especially in Africa

According to Bauerheim, in an exclusive interview with Motoring World, Actros is targeted at general goods transporters, oil transportation and long haulage applications.

He explained: “The new trucks are not only beautiful with completely new, functional and aerodynamic cabins, the biggest change comes from inside. Each piece is equipped with the new 6 cylinder in-line engine in Euro III with an incredible torque and as new standard, our third generation automated transmission the Mercedes-Benz PowerShift 3.
