Hamilton Drives Over 750km on the First Day of Post-Season Testing In Abu Dhabi

…Thumps up for Pirelli’s new HyperSoft Tyre

Lewis Hamilton on Tuesday got behind the wheel of the W08 EQ Power+ for one last time and completed a total of 136 laps in this year’s post-season test at the Yas Marina Circuit.

Mercedes-Benz Power Units completed a total of 355 laps (1972km).

After completing 136 laps, Hamilton who said he was not really biggest fan of testing, described Tuesday as a positive first day of running with new tyres.

“We managed to complete plenty of laps and collected lots of data and feedback to ensure we head in the right direction over the winter,” he recalled, adding, “ We’ve got a good early understanding of these 2018 Pirelli tyres.”

On early impression, Hamilton described  new HyperSoft as the best tyre that Pirelli have produced since returning to F1.

“I found that the other compounds are still a bit too hard for my liking,” he pointed out.” but we’re moving in the right direction. It’s a nice way to wrap up the season, with one last day in the W08. I’m definitely ready to take a break now, though!”
