Gas Plant Explodes Near Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

An explosion has been reported near the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

According to eyewitnesses, the explosion is from a gas plant behind the Redemption City. They also confirmed that the explosion did not happen inside RCCG’s compound, nor near any of its facilities, but some distance away from the church’s youth camp on the expressway.

As the location is reportedly close to Mowe Bus Stop, residents and passers-by reportedly scampered for safety after the first blast.

Videos on social media show fire blow out from gas loaded on trucks within the premises of a plant.

As at the time of filing this report, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) spokesman, Nosa Okunbor, who confirmed the incident, added that emergency responders were already at the scene.
