China to Partner Ekiti on Industrial Development

The Chinese Government has said it was making efforts to strengthen the China-Nigeria relations at the sub-national level, and in particular with Ekiti State whose economic plans have impressed the Chinese government.

Speaking in Ado Ekiti during a courtesy call on the State Governor, Dr KayodeFayemi, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. Zhou Pingjan,  said the Chinese government can “play a good role” in the four cardinal agenda of the KayodeFayemi-led administration in Ekiti State because the agenda also align with the Chinese government programmes.

The envoy who stated that it was high time to strengthen the China-Nigeria relations for the benefit of the people of the two countries, said China can promote Made in Ekiti products “in a win-win relationship”.

Pingjan who described Fayemi as a friendly governor said the country would miss his service as a Minister of Mines and Steel Development because of the positive impact he made while he superintended over the sector.

“The main purpose is to promote china Nigeria relation at the sub-national level. It is time for us to strengthen relations to bring benefit to the people of the two countries. I am glad to know that some Chinese companies are working in Ekiti. The areas of interest of Ekiti government can be achieved in the direction of the china relations and the country can play a good role in it. China can promote made in Ekiti products in a win-win relationship”, the envoy said.

Earlier, Governor Fayemi had stated that his government was keen on a partnership that would help his administration deliver concrete development to the people of Ekiti State.

The governor who highlighted the agenda of his administration solicited that the existing business relationship with the Chinese be strengthened for rapid grassroots development.

Fayemi said: “China is a country that we are very interested in, because of the understanding of what we want to do. We are also quite interested in development because we are keen to provide concrete development for our people.

“We already have some of your companies operating in this state particularly in the construction industry. We look forward to continuing the cooperation with your team and your teams here in the area of priority to us: Education and knowledge economy,  Agriculture and rural development, social investment and infrastructure and industrial development”, Fayemi added.
