Boulos to Stop Representing Piaggio India

By: ROTIMI ASHER

[dropcap]B[/dropcap]oulos Enterprises Limited has resolved to soon wind down and stop representing Piaggio India, a brand it has successfully established in Nigeria for over six years.

The company’s General Manager, Sales and Marketing, Mr Stanley Evans, who revealed the plan exclusively to Motoring World International on Friday, said the move became necessary, because Boulos Enterprises Limited does not see a long-term future for three-wheeler mode of transportation in Nigeria.

“However, even after we stop production of tricycles, we will still continue to be there for our customers with after sales services and availability of servicing and maintenance parts,” he assured

According to him, Boulos has chosen to move away from tricycle passenger-carrying vehicles and instead venture into production and introduction of four-wheeler vehicles “designed specifically for emerging corporate passenger and commercial Nigerian vehicle market.”

“In support of the nation’s Auto policy,” he pointed out, “BEL, who has been the only Tricycle importer to assemble from full Completely Knocked Down (CKD), plans to assemble four-wheeler from Semi-Knocked-Down (SKD) parts.

BEL is also the only importer, who fabricates a range of cargo bodies, custom-built for individual corporate customer requirements, thereby adding local content in support of the auto policy of the Federal Government.

“BEL will continue to support their corporate customers with tailor-made transport solutions,” Evans stressed.

Meanwhile during the over six years of representing Piaggio in Nigeria, BEL successfully trained and accredited 800 mechanics throughout Nigeria and created and trained entire assembly and fabrication team in Lagos.

During the period, the company also made available genuine Piaggio spare parts to its network of appointed spare parts dealers across the country through at least eight individual van deliveries each month.

More than that, the company also provided 24/7 technical help line and breakdown service.
